GSB Scholarship League Announces “GUYLAILA Memorial Fund” — A Dedicated Scholarship Endowment for Medical & Allied Health Students
Mumbai: The GSB Scholarship League has announced a new scholarship endowment exclusively for students pursuing Medical, Paramedical, Nursing, and allied Health Science courses, offering a major boost to aspiring healthcare professionals from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
The endowment, titled the “GUYLAILA Memorial Fund,” has been instituted through the generous bequest of Late Dr. Mangesh Gaitonde, widely respected for his commitment to education and lifelong support for deserving students. As per his wishes, a substantial corpus has been entrusted to the League with clear instructions that the earnings be used only to support students in medical and health-related fields.
Supporting future healers
Medical education is among the most rigorous and expensive pathways in higher education. Each year, many capable students are unable to continue their studies due to financial constraints. The GUYLAILA Memorial Fund aims to bridge this gap by providing timely financial assistance, enabling deserving students to pursue professional healthcare education and eventually serve society with skill and compassion.
Applications open in August 2026
The GSB Scholarship League will invite applications in August 2026 for scholarships for the academic year 2026–27. Students enrolled in Medical, Paramedical, Nursing, and allied Health Science courses will be eligible to apply. Students who are already part of the League’s regular scholarship programs may also apply under this endowment, subject to eligibility and selection criteria.
Selection process
All applications will be reviewed by the League’s Scrutiny Committee, and scholarships will be awarded strictly based on merit and genuine financial need.
A lasting legacy
This landmark endowment is a tribute to Dr. Gaitonde’s belief that education is a powerful instrument for social progress, and that no deserving student should be denied the opportunity to become a healthcare professional due to lack of financial means.
